Canadians

We headed to Canadians with the objective of skating two strong programs. But the short program got away from us which was really disappointing because we had been practising very well. So after some emotional turmoil, and with the help of Brian, we skated a really good long and we were so happy. It was an amazing feeling going from being upset to feeling completely overjoyed and relieved. The crowd was amazing and the support we got from our fellow skaters, coaches, media, security people, volunteers and fans was great. We skated our personal best in the long and we won an award for it. And in the end, this sport is always about skating your personal best and even though we didn’t end up on the podium, we felt a great sense of pride and accomplishment in what we achieved.

German Nationals

German Nationals was a great opportunity for us to get another competition under our belt and it was another chance to get some more training time with Ingo. We have been skating together now for two years but we haven't competed a lot and we know we need more competition experience. We went to Germany after the Andre Rieu shows and spent Christmas in Europe training. Rachel's family came over as well and it was a lot of fun being able to experience a European Christmas and New Year's celebration. We skated pretty well at German Nationals and were happy with how much our score improved. We were guests so we weren't eligible for a medal but we would have come in second and been on the podium with Aljona and Robin! That would have been cool!
